In ancient times, the purple of FUJI (wisteria) was considered a noble color, and has been much-loved down through the ages due to the Japanese people’s belief that the strong vitality of the wisteria bush symbolizes longevity and prosperity of descendants. It is paired with the auspicious tortoise shell, creating an elegant, feminine design.

Beni in a refillable case (portable Komachi-beni) with an intricate design. Setsugekka (“Snow, Moon, Flowers”) expressing the beautiful scenes of the four seasons is portrayed with a snowflake, moon, and chrysanthemum.
